Mentone Public Library is pleased to have recruited Paul "Percussion & Poet" Karp to source and review the local literary pearls of publications you might be yet to discover.

This month Paul's book review pick is:

"MENDEMIC"

Local Author:

Cindy Rochstein

Local Author Cindy Rochstein
Cindy is a Director of eMAGINE Agency, Founder of Pencils Community, Founder of Seeking Wellness, PR/Events/Communications Manager, Internationally Published Author, Freelance COPY writer, blogger and Founder of iCREATEactivity, living in Melbourne, Australia.

Mendemic is Cindy Rochstein's very readable 2013 collection of life stories from 40 men aged mainly 20-40 years. They responded to Cindy's call '...to help me understand who they really are and as individuals what makes them tick and what makes them, them.'
Their 40 stories encompass deeply valued relationships, both good and bad, with partners, parents, siblings and children. Challenges of depression, suicide, bullying and drug addiction are aired. Some men overcame their challenges, others still struggle with them.
Cindy writes; 'Despite all of the toughness, bravado, providing and protection...men are hurting... in such a deep way that it is becoming an endemic.'
Hence the catchy title Mendemic.
This book is a genuine account of men's concerns in this age of uncertainty.
You can find Mendemic in our Local Author section at Mentone Public Library.
You can purchase by visiting Cindy's website:

We were very privileged to host Cindy Rochstein at our library in 2014 and 2015
for our annual local author talk series;
"An Author for All Seasons."
