  1. Attended Saturday's event and Kate was an amazingly generous and entertaining purveyor of literary advice and intelligence.
Kate is one of Australia's most read authors, the ultimate local girl made good. Her books sell in huge numbers all over the world and have been translated into many languages. They may not be literary enough for Australian intelligentsia, but the joy of reading Kate's stories is that they are written about ordinary people, using language we all understand. They are a good read.
Kate's books are not the kind you start, falter and leave half-finished, or that you feel you need to plod on through to the end. We read them because they are accessible and we love them. They sell because they are page turners, and she was kind enough to impart some of her secrets to keep a reader engaged and eager to read on. An entertaining and knowledgeable speaker who was generous enough to stay behind and speak to all her fans.
