Three more sleeps 'till the big day...


 
We can't believe the Mentone Public Library's 90th Anniversary Celebration has finally arrived.  It feels like we've been planning it for ages and this weekend we can finally let our hair down and enjoy the fruits of our labour.
 
 
Thanks to Tony's superior streamer hanging and balloon blowing skills, we now have a library that looks like it's ready to party!
 

 
I know there's been a lot of Anniversary talk lately.  But never fear, after this weekend we will resume our regular posts on up-coming author talks and books we love.

Equally special to us was the humility and pulsating social conscience of our presenters. In the space of two and a half hours, our audience of 29 guests were treated to beautiful vocals and a sharp, daring and innovative lens,  leaving us all with  an indelible mark of hope and promise for the future...and stronger sense of moral responsibility. Noah Berlow Noah opened as first speaker, performing a 360 degree turn and then thanking us for his time...at 45 seconds, we could not believe his presentation was over! While indeed the world bade a painful farewell to many prolific writers and storytellers in 2016, Mentone Public Library were blessed with a rebirth of local literary talent and new library members to our humble establishment. With 2016 and the holiday period now behind us, we wanted to take the opportunity to pay homage to the year that was and the wonderful stable of local authors and national literary treasures that made our sixth series of "An Author for All Seasons" so memorable. Literal Bliss:  Graeme & Elsie Johnstone Reflect  on their Recent Appearance at  Mentone Public Library  - 11am, Saturday, 26 August 2017 Elsie (seated) and  Graeme Johnstone unrolled their red carpet of literary accomplishments at the end of August 2017 at Mentone Public Library Though husband and wife writing duo  Graeme and Elsie Johnstone  penned a haunting, psychological, bleak portrait of a marriage turned sour and lethal in Lover, Husband, Father, Monster , their real-life marriage, could not be any more opposite: supportive, expressive, loving and successful. They are friends, literary partners, supporters and champions of one another and supporters and champions of all local writers.
