This month Paul's book review pick is:
SCANDALOUS BAYSIDE An anthology by
The Mordialloc Writers' Group
Who doesn't love reading about a good scandal? Especially if it's a scandal set where you live!
Well, in 2008 the Mordialloc Writers' Group compiled an anthology of factual accounts, fictional stories and verse each infected by some whiff of scandal.
Scandals ranged from Boonwurrung Nation natives at Mordialloc Creek displaced by white settlement, to speculative land booms and busts by shady characters, to dark family secrets in quiet bayside streets, all set in locations from Ricketts Point, Beaumaris through to Seaford.
Scandalous Bayside remains a worthy addition to Mentone Public Library's Local Author section.
BRIEF HISTORY & PROFILE OF THE GROUP
Founded in 1995 by Mairi Neil and Noelle Franklyn, the Mordialloc Writers' Group remains an active community literary hub, hosting writing workshops on a fortnightly basis. Having published nine anthologies and presented at a number of community literary events; including Mentone Public Library as recently as October 2016 for the Kingston Seniors Festival, the Mordialloc Writers' Group remains a vibrant hub for local writers to share and exchange their literary works, and provide support and advice for one another.
