Mentone Public Library is committed towards promoting local history and the local literary talent of the City of Kingston and surrounding municipalities of Bayside, Glen Eira and Port Phillip in the Bayside region of Melbourne Australia.

Mentone Public Library is pleased to have recruited
Paul "Percussion & Poet" Karp
to source and review the local literary pearls of publications you might be yet to discover.

This month Paul's book review pick is by

There are no chapters in Andrea's resource for serious writers
'...with strong career dreams'.
Instead there are 100 numbered,
easily digestible and overwhelmingly useful Insights,
each appended with a brief affirmation.

My only quibble was that the book was written in the first person,
as if the book was created for her own use, rather than in the third person as a high-quality resource for all serious writers regardless of their spiritual beliefs.

This was evident when inspirational entities were recommended without any context,
such as Paul the Venetian Master (Insight 55),
Master Lady Nada (Insight 77), and Master Sanat Kumara (Insight 96). * See Danae's feedback below.
All the same, this book affected me like it was IVF for the imagination.
It inspired a writing project and for that
The Writer's Runway Volume 1 truly proved its worth to me.

Enriching Feedback from Danae:
*In the Preface of the book I wrote:

"This book is in first person with the aim of helping you make the information, insights, and affirmations your own. (pg xv)

"There are four insights that refer to Ascended Masters. The  intention for these is simply to encourage inspiration and the feeling of greatness in order to help you create a mindset conducive to writing, as opposed to them being a promotion of any spiritual ideology.

You might prefer to adjust these passages and substitute the Ascended Masters with masters or muses of your choice such as other writers or heroes, alternative spiritual figures, your higher self, an inspiring organisation, or anything you create that represents inspiration, peace, and attainment to you and helps to bring your mind and emotions to the state that you desire in preparation for writing." (pg xiv)

We were very fortunate to have Danae Andrea Harwood speak just recently,
returning to us once more for our:
"Springtime Storytelling Special: How We Dreamed Then and How We Dream Now."
A fascinating odyssey into the many imaginings of "The Australian Dream."

Danae is a hardworking, creative and inspiring mind who never undertakes a task half-heartedly, delivering an exceptional presentation sprinkled with her wonderful literary tips and prose.
